SPECIAL ADVERTISEMENTS. TOP-DRESSING GRASS LAO FARMERS- zCii 4.-. Bo not make the eoamn alitaM of calculating the valae of a fertiliser by its PRICE PEB TON. CONSIDER ' What the cost will be when applying the necessary quantity of Phosphoric Acid. THUS “EPHOS” BASIC PHOSPHATE contains about half aa much again of Phosphoric Acid as Basie Slag. In other words, in round Agues, it requirea only 601bs weight of EPHOS as against 100 lbs weight of Blag to apply an equal quantity of Phosphates to the land. I CONSIDER ALSO The saving in railway carriage, cartage, and handling. “EPHOS” combines the quickness of action of Superphosphate with the beneficial effects obtained by Blag on pastures. . “EPHOS” has long since made its reputation by results, and la tha cheapest fertiliser to us. “EPHOS” IS NGN-ACID. OBTAINABLE FROM ALL MERCHANTS. , Glenbourne, Waiau (Canterbury), April 3, 1924. * I have used your EHOS manure for three years on the Port Hills, North Canterbury, and here in the Amuri. In each of these districts the land varied very much in character, from volcanic to alluvial and limestone country, and on each occasion the manure gave' very satisfactory results. These results are particularly noticeable on the shady sides of downs country, where the eoil is inelined to be eoiir. I tried it this year at Itcwt per acre on a smaU paddock of lucerne eown in November, where the land was in a very parched condition. I expected no success whatever with this crop on account of the excessive heat, but the * ‘ EPHOS ’ ’ appeared to stimulate the growth at the critical stage when the vitality of the -plant is being transferred from the seed to the roots, and contrary to my expectations, the lucerne struck with only one shower of rain in six weeks, and had a good cut at the end of January. I have had the same results this year with a paddock of oats sown at the end of January, which is now ready to eat off. I started to sew this crop with a drill I had not previously used, and as the. EPHOS is of a very free running nature, I opened up gradually till I got to lewt per acre, which was the quantity used. The gradual increase' iq'.the manure is now seen in the growth of the oats. >.<>»» < :rr tp> ■ I have since used iton a paddock of Emerald rye,, which appears- to -be doing well, but it is too early to nri tice any. particular, effects on this crept I . consider “EPHOS” to beworth £l. per ton more than any other- manure I have tried for forcing on green crops; and it la. my intention to continue using it while it. gives these m* Sujts. , \ (Sgd.) murdo McDonald.
