OBTAINABLE FROM ALL MERCHANTS. Glenbourne, Waiau (Canterbury), April 3, 1924. I have used your EHOS manure for three years on the Port Hills, North Canterbury, and here in the Amuri. In each of these districts the land varied very much in character, from volcanic to alluvial and limestone country, and on each occasion the manure gave very satisfactory results. These results are particularly noticeable on the shady sides of downs country, where the soil is inclined to be sour. I tried it this year at IJcwt per acre on a small paddock of lucerne sown in November, where the land was in a very parched condition. I expected no success whatever with this crop on account of the excessive beat, but the “EPHOS” appeared to stimulate the growth at the critical stage when the vitality of the plant is being transferred from the seed to the roots, and contrary to my espectations, the lucerne struck with only one shower of rain in six Weeks, and had a good cut at the end of January. I /”ve had the same results this year with a paddock of oats sown at the end of January, which is now ready to eat off. I started to sew this crop with a drill I had not previously used, and as the EPHOS is of a very free running nature, I opened up gradually till I got to lewt per acre, which was the quantity used. The gradual increase in the manure is now seen in the growth of the oats. I have since used it on a paddock of Emerald rye, which appears to be doing well, but it is too early to notice any particular effects on this crop. I consider “EPHOS” to be worth £1 per ton more than any other manure I have tried for forcing on green crops; and it is my intention to continue using it while it gives these results.
