In tho opening county matches burrey have declared with 343 for 9 wickets (H. A. Peach 92, T 5. K. Jardine 72), against Glamorgan 196. Bowling for Surrey, P. G. H. Fender took 4 wickets for 43. Sussex have scored T9Z against Northants, who have lost 6 for 71. For the latter, Staples took 4 for 44. Middlesex (first innings) 374; second 2 for 66 (J, W. Dale 51) again-, st Oxford, who scored 19<5 in the first' innings. Derbyshire scored only 81 in the first innings against Lancashire, who have lost 4 wickets for 59. C. H. Parkin, bowling for Lancashire, captured 8 wickets for 20 runs.
