QUEEN CARNIVAL.
CARTERTON’S EFFORT. (Our Travelling Reporter.) There was a good attendance at the social and dance at Parkvale. A case of tomatoes donated by Mr B. Roberts was put up several times and netted £2 5/. Bidding was spirited for the royal waltz, the sum of £4 5/ being paid by Mr D. Anderson. The attractions for the week are: Wednesday night, euchre tourney at Matarawa; Thursday, dance at Waihakeke, pictures and concert at Tivoli; Friday, shop day, dance at Belvedere, pictures and concert at Tivoli; Saturday, final day with big sale of work. LATEST COUNT. Every count shows a change in the Queen Carnival positions. Yesterday, the Citizen’s jumped from fourth to first place. The positions yesterday evening were as follows: Citizens, over 15,000 under 17,000 1. W. Farmers, over 14,000 under 16,000 2 E. Farmers, over 13,000 under 15,000 3 School, over 13,000 under 15,000 4 Sports, over 11,000 under 13,000 5
