MISS SHAND AT CARTERTON. There was a good attendance at the swimming carnival held at Carterton on Saturday in honour of Miss Gwitha Shand, the New Zealand champion lady swimmer. The sale of tickets and gate receipts realised £2O 3s, and this amount, less expenses, will be donated towards the Olympia Fund to send Miss Shand to the Paris Olympiad. 25yds Boys under 12.—N. At the conclusion Mr W. .Sorensen, on behalf of the Swimming Club, thanked Miss Shand for her presence at the gathering. The club also presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates. Mr Coira responded on behalf of Miss Shand.
