CHILDREN’S CONCERT.
AT CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH. The concert staged by the Masterton Congregational Church Sunday School pupils last night was most successful, the hall being filled to capacity. The results should help considerably towards swelling the school funds. The programme was a varied one, and all the children played their parts extremely well, special mention being due to Eva Kitchener (Queen Lily), Murray Paris (Capt. Soot), and Beverley Taylor (Dr. Sunlight) in the playlet “Soot and the Fairies.” The duet, “Dolly’s Birthday,” was nicely sung by Nola Kitchener and Dorothy Taylor. All the items were heartily encored, and the children were exceptionally free from nervousness and hesitancy. The scenes painted by Mr G. Paris were most striking and effective. The stage managers were Messrs G. Masters and W. Hardham. The children taking part in the playlet, other than those above named were Jack Fielding, Phyllis Heaven, Jean Milne, Humphrey Swinerd, Gordon Milne, Freda Masters, Phyllis Madsen, and Donald Milne. There will be another performance to-night.
