Ncich, the Clareville trainer, is getting together a handy little team. The one-eyed Absurd horse, Karutahi, is shaping well, having filled out considerably. Neieh is handling a nice 2-year-old by Treadmill from Idealia and an unnamed 3-year-old by Waimunga from Balama. Native Queen, a brown mare by Mountain Knight, i s also an inmate of the stables. Ten gallopers are at present working ■bn the Taratahi course. Hazleman’s team has returned to Tauherenikau after racing unsuccessfully at Marton and Wanganui. Wairarapa should be worthily represented by L’Amour in the Avondale Cup. The best has not yet been seen of To Kara, who is in the Avondale Cup with 7.1.1. Debate is reported to be an improved horse and may capture a stake at the Otaki meeting.
