“GET A MOVE ON.”

ADVICE TO TURKS. SPEEDING UP CONFERENCE. (Press Association —Copyright.)' (Received 8.40 p.m.) Lausanne, May 16. —Sir Horace Rumbold emphasised the importance of speeding up the work of the conference and urged upon the Turks that the moment had arrived when they could do practical business. The Allies, having made all possible concessions, will now confront the Turks with the questions left in dispute. The Graceo-Turkish deadlock, due to Greece resolutely refusing to pay reparations to Turkey, cont nues to cause anxiety. The Greeks state that they prefer to recommence war in the Maritza. Sir Horace Rumbold had a long interview with Ism#t, also with Venizelos and Alexandria, who are not disposed to leave the matter open indefiKtely. It is understood the Greek delegates are irstrutced to leave Lausanne immediately, if the conference endorses Turkey’s claim.—(A. and N.Z.)
