AIR DEFENCE.
A WARNING BROADCASTED. (Received 8.20 p.m.) London, May 16. —Thousands of Londoners had the novel experience of listening to the Air Minister wirelessing a warning of the air peril. He broadcasted a speech saying the development of aviation made it possible for a hostile Power to drop on London a weight of bombs far beyond the weight dropped during the war. “We must begin to organise a fortress against such an attack,” declared the Minister. “I desire to impress upon all the urgent importance of an adequate supply of pilots and men to man the anti-aircraft guns and searchlights. Guns will always be necessary as a final defence against raiders who may have penetrated the aeroplane defences(A. and N.Z.)
