TROOPS IN THE RUHR.
TOTAL NOW 100 000. NO ADVANCE IN BAVARIA. (Received 8.20 p.m.) Paris, March 14.—1 t is declared in official quarters that there is no intention to extend thfe advance from the right bank of the Rhine into Bavaria, which would make too serious a call on the French army. With the addition of 5000 Belgians, and 15,000 French, there are 100,000 Allied troops now in the Ruhr. —(A. and N.Z.) AN IMPOSING FUNERAL. (Received 8.20 p.m.) London, March 14.—According to a Dusseldarf mes age, the funeral of the murdered French officials was conducted with such pomp that it might nave been that of a great General, or the President of the Republic. The two coffins were lying in the Guildhall, each covered with French flags, and the steps of the building were covered with magnificent wreaths.
Generals Payot, Degouette, and Bourmans were present when the coffins were placed on trains bound for France.
The “Daily Chronicle's” Dusseldorf corresponlent states that two German police sergeants who returned to Beur, within the permitted timelimit, to collect their belongings were arrested by the French. If is not known if they were tried, but they were shot in the courtyard of a girls’ school. Another account states they were executed by two soldiers, in the presence of their officers.— (A. and N.Z.)
