Walrond (New Zealand) 2 M -,s AL Wylie (New South Wales 3 The competitors left the board together, Miss Wylie being the first to assume command as the result of clever turning. Miss Walrond lost ground at each turn, through the erroneous method she adopted in turning. Al.:ss Shand challenged Aliss Wylie in the third lap, and soon established a commanding lead, which Aliss Walrond unavailingly endeavoured to reduce, Aliss Wyl : e meanwhile lagging behind. Mi's Shand’s time of 2.54 2-5 is 3 2-sse;s outside the record. NEW ZEALANDERS BEATEN. Sydney, Feb. 22.—Miss Shand, one second from scratch won her heat in the special 100 yards handicap after a strenuou' fight with Aliss Venning (Queensland). Aliss Walrond, who was obviously tiring, finished third in the second heat from scratch. The final resulted :— Ali's Roberts 1 Aliss Wylie 2 Aliss Shand 3 Won by a touch. Time, 1.21.
