STINEAR—ROTHWELL
A wedding of local interest was solemnised yesterday at the Methodist Church, when Miss Leah Rothwell, only daughter of the Rev. B. F. and Mrs Rothwell, was married to Mr J. F. M. Stinear, third son of Mrs J- Stinear, of New Brighton, Christchurch. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr Frank Hilgendorf, wore a gown of ivory charmeuse, with panels and sleeves of radium lace. Her veil of embroidered net was worn over a chaplej of silver leaves and orange blos-
som. Her bouquet was of white lilies, roses and carnations. She was attended by Miss Nell Thorp, of Napier, and a tiny flower-girl. Miss Margaret Jenkins. The former wore a frock of azurine blue satin beaded wit 1 black, and black lace hat; she carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers, with black streamers. The wee bridesmaid looked dainty in a coral organdie frock and hat, and her posie was of cream violas and hollyhocks. Mr Eric Rothwell, the bride’s brother, acted as best man, and the ceremony was performed by the bride’s father, Rev. B. F. Rothwell. Many guests from various parts of the Dominion assembled at the Parsonage, Worksop road, to partake of the wedding breakfast. Various toasts were honoured and replied to by Mr Pragnell, Mr C. E. Daniell, the Rev. J. Cocker, Matron Rothwell, and Mr Hilgendorf. The bride’s mother wore a frock of navy marquisette, with steel bead embroideries and a hat of navy satin and lace. The young couple left by the afternoon train for the Sounds, the bride’s travelling frock being mastic garbi-cord-braided and shoes to match and a hat of jade georgette. SCOTT—CANDY. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Matthew’s Church yesterday, when Miss Dolly Candy, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Candy, Cambridge Terrace, Masterton, was married to Mr John Mill Scott, of Napier, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Scott, of Roseneath. The Curate (Rev. G. K. Moir) officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore white net, trimmed with silver over silk. The bridesmaids were Miss Edith Scott (Wellington) and Miss Grace Wellington (Masterton). Mr Eric Candy attended the bridegroom as best man and Mr W Payne as groomsman. A reception was held at the Park Kiosk, where about 60 attended and the usual felicitous speeches were made and toasts honoured. The young couple later motored north, where the honeymoon will be spent.
