OBITUARY.
MR ARTHUR WELCH. The death occurred at the Masterton. Hospital yesterday, from pleurisy and pneumonia, of a well-known and highly respected resident of Masteflon, Mr Arthur Welch. Deceased had only been, ill a little over a week, and the news of his death came as a shock to his many friends. Deceased was very popular with 011 classes of the community, and was closely associated with various kinds of sport in the town, particularly football and cricket. He was formerly a member of the Carlton Cricket Club, and did valuable work in organising St. Matthew’s Cricket Club. He was a member of the old Oriental Football Club in Masterton. He was a vestryman of St. Matthew’s Church, and an old member of the C.E.M.S.
Deceased was 46 years of age, being born at Willow Park, Opaki. He was a son of the late Mr and .Mrs Henry "Welch. He leaves a widow (a daughter of Mr F. King) and three children (two sons and a daughter). He also leaves five brothers (Messrs A. J. Welch, Harry Welch, W. Welch and Edward Welch, of Masterton, and Alfred Welch, Wellington), and two sisters (Mesdames Frank Redman, Wellington, and Bray, Wellington).
The funeral will take place on Fri day afternoon, leaving the residence Chapel street, at 2 o’clock for th Masterton cemetery.
