PEDIGREE JERSEYS. SALE AT BALLANCE. The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-op. Association (Stock Dept.), Pahiatna, report on their clearing sake of pedigree Jersey cattle, held on account of Mr F. Cresswell, at Ballance, as follows :• —There was a fair attendance of the public, including buyers from the South Island. Although the larger portion of the pedigree stock went to the Lower Wairarapa, a portion j stayed in this district and three of the cows went to Mr A. Hodgkinson, of Takaka, Nelson. Messrs Sutton and Co., Longbush, purchased) “Laurel’s Famous,” the top-priced , cow, at 40 guineas; other buyers, operating were Messrs C. Smith and ' R. T. Parsons (Martinborough), J. I Murray, J. Mitchell, R. C. Leach, D. Dodds, C. Jones, and H. R. Conlin I (Woodville), W. Bigger (Havelock I North), L. Heckler (Mangamahoe), I H. R. Benbow (Ormondville), F. W. 1 Bitty, R. C. Yates, Wilkinson and i Clifford, B. R. Croad and H. Garlick > (of Pahiatua district). The following ) was the range of prices:— Pedigree cows, from 2OJgns to 40 gne., making an average of 28gns. Pedigree 2yr heifers, from 18gns to | 32gns, average 24gns. Pedigree weaner heifers, from IOJ gns to 17gns. Pedigree weaner bulla, from lOgns to 18 gns. Also, on account of same vendor: Ten grade cows, from £lO to £2l 10s, averaging £l5 13s 6d. Four grade heifers, up to £22, aver- i aging £lB 18s. Sundries sold well up to market I rates. We also offered 12 high-grade heifera on account of E. S. Holdaway I (Ballance), which sold as follows: 6: at £l5 to £l5 10s, 6 at £lO 15s. I
