OPERA HOUSE PASSIONATE PILGRIM Quite a exceptional treat is in store for Opera House patrons to-night, the big Paramount super-feature “The Passionate Pilgrim” will commence a three night season. There are numer ous features about. “The Passionate Pilgrim,” which makes it one of the most notable productions released by Paramount. Written by Samuel Merwin and directed by Robert G. Vignola, it contains heart appeal aiu dramatic quantity. The story deals with Henry Calverly, an author, a married man, who to protect his mother in-law from the consequences of an involuntary crime, sends her away, and is himself sent to prison for three years. His wife, her daughter, soon dies. Assuming the name of Stafford, ho begins life anew as a reporter on his release, and is assigned to inter- a view the Mayor, Tim Mclntyre who is in league with the trustees of the rich Cantey estate of which Miriam Cantey, a beautiful, but invalid daughter of the testator, is the guiding mind. When Stafford’s story is published, Mclntyre causes him to be discharged. Miriam prevails upon Stafford to write a biography of her father, and during that period they fall in love with each other, After many thrilling happenings their love romance comes to a happy ending. Ralph Connor has written no mere popular story than “Th*? Sky Pilot,’ which leads the bill at the Cosy. Heralded as one of the most stirring out-door stories of the great West King Vidor has achieved a great <ucoesis for First National in producing thi s feature. The notable element is the remarkable array of thrills wr.i- h follow one another in rapid suc'.>'Ssion. The great stampede of cattle, the fall from the bridge over the can yon, the burning of the church, the pitched battle between primitive and cultured men, all so vividly described in the story, are portrayed with a master hand in the picture. The role of the Sky Pilot is played by John Bowers, and the manner in which he carries out the subjugaticn of lawless sons in the wild Western town, and the conversion, of the inhabitants characterises’ the star as a man of force. Colleen Moore, who played Dinty’ s little mother in “Din- . ty,” is the ranch girl of the story. There is a matinee to-day at 2.30.
