Tallow.—W c quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 42s 3d per cwt, good beef 41s 3d per cwt, mixed 35s 9d per cwt. Market inactive. New Zealand frozen meat.—Lamb 10|d per lb, new season 11 Jd per lb, wether and maiden ewe, light 7 l-8d per lb, heavy 6|d; ewe, light 5 7-8 d per lb, heavy s}d; beef, market dull, nothing doing. Last quotations: ox hinds 4 l-8d per,lb, fores 2 7-Bd, March 1: cow hinds 34d, fores 2d.
Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd:—Market stronger, improved general competition. Compared with present London sales’ opening rates, greasy merino best descriptions par to 5 per cent advance, greasy merino other descriptions-advanced 5 per cent, to 10 per cent., crossbred greasy fine advanced 5 per cent. Compared with last London sales’ closing rates, slipe crossbred market shows no change.

N.Z. prime crossbred mutton Canterbury heavy 61d, light 7.]d, North Island heavy 6d, light 7d. Demand for s7ew Zealand mutton runs principally on light weights, market steady. N.Z. prime ox beef hinds 4d, fores 31d. Demand for N.Z. beef is nil, prices nominal. Crossbred lamb Australian, heavy 9d, light lOd, mutton heavy s£d, light 6d. Demand for Australian lamb runs principally on finest qualities. Demand for Australian mutton poor.
The quotation for North Island lamb i.< for new’ season’s. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Mar. 10: Butter. New Zealand, 140 s to 144 s per cwt. Market firm. Cheese, 81s to 96s per cwt. Market dull.
Messrs Dalgety and Co, Ltd., Mar. 8.- Tallow. 1185 casks of tallow offered, 220 casks sold. Market easier, buyers holding off for lower prices. Wool: Wool sales continue firm and lately reported rates are fully maintained. About 97 per cent of offerings are being sold. Continental buyers arc operating more freely. Lambs wool good demand.
