AGRICULTURAL CLUBS.
It is to be hoped that some means will be found of furthering the proposal which the Farmers’ Union executive was discussing the other day of establishing agricultural clubs amongst the boys of this district. The value of these clubs has been fully demonstrated in the United States and Canada, and in Taranaki. There is no doubt that the expenditure incurred upon them is more than recouped in the greater efficiency of agriculture. The trouble is to find the money at the moment to get the clubs established. Neither the Government nor the farming community has any to spare. The amount required is not great. Accor iing to Mr Greenwood, the Agricultural Instructor, £3O would suffice for prizes for this district. The matter has not been altogether turned down, ; and probably W'hen Mr Greenwood comes to discuss it with the branches of the Union it will be found th it there are ways of getting over the difficulties. The experiment is well worth trying, and neither the Earn - ers’ Union nor the A. and P. Associations will regret taking a hand in
