SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.

(Our Travelling Reporter.)

The highest resi al the Dalefie?! cheese factory this week is 5.. and the

At a meeting of the South Wairarapa Poultry Association, held at Car terton, Mr Austen Seely was electe 1 treasurer. The subscription was fixed at 5s per annum, with an entrance fee of 7s 6d. The tender of F. Jackson was accepted for carting eggs. Now that the Wairarapa Electric Power Board has appointed a permanent engineer to supervise the installation of a reticulation scheme, active eperations will be commenced in the very near future. As Carterton -will be the centre of operations, and as a large staff will necessarily be employed, the town is likely to receive a great fillip, provided citizens see to it that the necessary housing accommodation is made available. At present there arc no empty houses, and workmen will be driven elsewhere if thicondition is allowed to continue.

Mr H. H. Armstrong left Carterton yesterday to attend a conference of poultrymen at Palmerston North. A young man left his bicycle standing in front of a Carterton shop for a couple of hours the other evening. When he returned for it the machine had disappeared. It was later discovered in a back street, but with the scat missing.

A team of croquet players from Petone are visiting the Wairarapa this

week. Matches are to be played against Featherston and Masterton.
