SOLDIERS’ SPORTS CARNIVAL.
The attention of our readers is directed to the many facilities offered to picnic parties visiting Solway on Saturday next, and to the special fares arranged with the local taxicab and lorry proprietors. Hot water will be available free of charge, and the gates will be opened at 11 a.m. On account of the rec-ori entry for the horse event© (over 60) the sports will commence at 1 p.m. with a rousing pig-hunt for boys under 12. Five shillings reward will be given for every porker returned to the cart. The Management Committee has secured the rights to sell at these sports, copies of the mo%t remarkable photo of the war, “The New Zealanders’ Bayonet Charge at La Signy Farm, 1917.” This snapshot is genuine, wa s actually taken in action. Every visitor should make a point of securing a copy. C hief Savage Dave Hebenton is in solid training for the animal race, and gave his “Ma-llaby” a light spin to i Martinborough early in the week.
