The French Senate approved, by 182 votes to 30, the credit for representation of France at the Vatican. The Federal health authorities expect a recurrence of plague during March or February. A launch on Lake Tyers, Gippsland (Victoria), containing 17 passengers, caught fire and finally capsized, three men being drowned. Mr Verbrugghen, by wireless, has refuted the suggestion that he will not return after the expiration of bis six months’ leave. Continuance of the orchestra depends on the willingness of the guarantors to accept another conductor during Verbrugghen’s absence.
