IN “DRY” AMERICA. CHICAGO HEADS THE LIST. (Received 1.5 a.m.) New York, Dec. 30.—The Christmas holidays’ toll qii alcoholic poisoning deaths is beginning to mount up. Nine are dead here, and five more are expected to die. More than a score are ill in various degrees of poisoning. Among the dead are several women, including one young mother. Ten are dead in Chicago, showing a total of 60 for the year, as compared with 20 for the last non-prohibition year. Pittsburg reports four deaths, while from many New England States, especially manufacturing towns, where the foreign element resides, there are a large number of alcohol poisoning cases.—(A. and N.Z.)
