AMERICAN SOLDIERS HANGED.
STARTLING ALLEGATIONS. (Received 8.40 p.m.) Washington, Dec. B.—Colonel Bethel, Assistant Advocate General, testifying before a committee which is investigating Senator Watson’s charges that American soldiers were hanged without trial in France, stated that only 11 soldiers were hanged for atrocious crimes, after adequate and just trial. Senator Watson read affidavits from ex-servicemen who saw soldiers hanged .without trial and shot and bayoneted by officers. —(A. and N.Z.)
