JUDGMENT SUMMONSES.

A judgment summons case, B. W. Gunn v. Joseph Kelliher, was heard at the Magistrate’s Court, Masterton, yesterday, before Mr Free, B.M. Defendant, in evidence, said that judgment for the debt was given against him on September 29. He was earning £3 a week, working for his brother, but from this sum the brother deducted 10s a week for tho support of one of defendent’s childrerf. For the keep of another child he paid 12s 6d a week to a relative. His wife was in Auckland, and ho sent her a pound or two now and again. Witness paid another man 7s 6d a week to help him with his job of milking, and also kept him, which cost about another 10s a week. Out of the money he earned he had noth’ ing left to pay the lebt. His Worship said that if defendant could afford to pay a man 7s 6d a week to help him with his work he could afford to pay his debts. Defendant would be sentenced to four days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he paid 2s 6d a week off the debt. W. Grantham, who did not appear to answer a judgment summons* was ordered to pay the amount owing or go to gaol for seven days.
