DAVIS CUP PLAYERS. (Received 9.15 p.m.) Ottawa, July 27.—At Toronto Todd defeated Laframbois 6—2, 6—3, 6—B, 6—o, and Anderson defeated Bennett 6—3, 6—O, 6—2. The kind of tennis the Australians have been playing is indicated by an analysis of the last two matches. Anderson made 27, Placements and Bennett 12, Anderson 19 outs, Bennett 28 and Anderson 29 nets, Bennett 31, Todd 36, Placements and Laframbois 26, Todd 35 outs, Laframbois 50. Todd 37 nets, Laframbois 48. New York, July 28.—1 t is announced that the Mauretania fire is causing delay to the Indian team for the Davis Cup, and this has resulted in the postponement for one week of the match between India and Japan. The teams will meet at Chicago on August 18, 19, and 20, and the final round therefore will also be postponed for a week, until August 25, 26, and 27. The other semi-final at Cleveland, the Australia versus England match, and the challenge round are not affected.—Reuter.
