(Received 7.50 p.m.) Tokio, July 27.—A process for smelting magnetic sand, whereby Japan would be rendered independent of outside sources of iron supply, has been thoroughly tested and proved satisfactory. The cost of production is 25 yen per ton. Extensive fields of workable sand exist. The discovery is regarded as of the greatest importance'economically and politically.— (Retiter.) (A gold yen is worth 100 cents, and a silver yen 75 cents.)
