FIRE IN A GARAGE.

Oamaru. Alay 30.—A garage with new plant and a stock qf modern appliances-, owned by G. T. Gillies, was destroyed by fire at 6 a.m. yesterday, as the result of an explosion, whereby the owner was severely burned, and is now in the hospital. Four cars and. a motor cycle were burned. Two cars were saved. The owner was in the garage, preparatory for a daylight departure for the country. The insurances are: £3OO on the premises in the South British office, £5OO on the goods in the State office, and an unavailable amount on the stock. The wall was burned out of G. Harris’s shed, adjoining.
