THE HIGH SCHOOL.
We arc glad to be able to publish this morning the statement of the chairman am! secretary of the High School Board of Governors regarding the selection of the site for the school. The Rev. Mr. Brown and Mr. Grundy state categorically that the Board has not tied the hands of the architect and that, moreover, a Government architect has been consulted and hasapproved the lay-out which it is proposed to adopt. This gets over the main difficulty which we saw in the position as it appeared to be, namely, that if the Board proceeded without the cognisance of the Government Architects it might find its grant held up at the last moment by the withholding of approval. It seems to us that the Board has now its course quite clear and should, if it is satisfied with its decision, go ahead with all possible speed. There is a routine which it must follow in any case, and it need not anticipate the failure of its request for a grant to carry on witß that course has been tried.
