NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE.
A graceful tribute has been paid by the town of Le Quesnoy to its liberators, the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, by sending a richly embroidered flag to Colonel Hart. The entry of the New Zealanders took place on November 4, within four or five days of the last fighting, and the grateful French people proposed at the time to have some emblem of the Rifle Brigade worked into the amis of their town. This apparently has not been done, but the flag is a very handsome token of remembrance and gratitude. The Brigade has also received flags from the town of Stafford, in England, close to Brocton Camp. On the occasion of the presentation a special film of the march past was taken for exhibition in New Zealand. The flags then presented were taken possession of by Lieut.-Colonel Shepherd. As the Brigade no longer exists, the disposal of such mementoes is a matter that requires consideration.
