MASTERTON CLUB. Local players gathered in force at the Y.M.O.A. Rooms on Monday night for the closing of the 1020 season, the visit of Mr. H. G, Lee, of Wellington, acting as an additional attraction, ffhe star event of the evening was a simultaneous exhibition by the visilyr. who look on ton boards, moving from one to another without a and who eventually succeeded in obtaining <i majority of wins against his opponents.' Tn'addition lo Ihe simultaneous games, a number of boards were also engaged in friendly skittles, Ihe evening proving one of (hose pleasant gatherings which have become n feature of the local Club's programme. Mesdames F. P. Welch, 11. 'C. Lee, and A. Clemas, kindly superintended the supper arrangements, as usual doing all iu their power to make the evening a success. During the supper adjournment'-Mr. 11. L. Thirfle expressed the Club's sentiments in extending to one and all ! the seasonal good wishes, including in ! his remembrance the many erstwhile I members, some now scattered in van--1 ous parts of the Dominion, also expressing' iho pleasure of resident memj brrs at the opportunity of meeting their dislingujshod visitor*. Mr. and
Mr*. Lee. Mr. Lee, in responding, said Ihe hospitality of the Masterton Club was proverbial, and thanked one and till for the many kindnesses shown himself and "wife during their brio! stay. A. presenialion in Ihe form of some handsome pieces of Doultou china which curne as a complete surprise to Ihe recipients, was then made by Mr. !•'. r.
