A CURIOUS SITUATION.

REGARDING CANADIAN FLOUR. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.') (Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock. LONDON, Dec. 11. A curious situation has arisen in connection with the large stocks of Canadian flour held by the Government. Negotiations with the millers to take over the flour to mix with theirs, having failed the Government decided to sell to the public on the ground that as a heavy loss was inevitable, which would fall on the taxpayers, the public should have the benefit of cheaper flour. The Government also decided to arrange for the distribution of cheaper bread, retail, made of Government flour, at a considerably lower price than that now charged.
