MASTEIiTON CLUB '8 TOUENAMENT.

A deputation from the Maslcrtou Lawn Tennis Club, consisting of Mon•signor McKcnna (president), Messrs S. li. Gawith (vice-president), H. M. Boddington (lion, secretary), A. 11. Daniell, and N. 11. James, waited upon the.annual meeting of the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association, at "Wellington on Tuesday, to urge upon that body the Mastcrton Club's claims to having January 22 (Anniversary Lay) allotted solely to them for the purpose of holding their annual tournament, which has been held on that date since 181)8. The deputation received a most favourable reception, a resolution being passed recommending the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association not to grant more than one permit to clubs within a reasonable area on the same day. The deputation further suggested that, in Ihe interests of true sport and to prevent "pot hunting," the New Zealand Association should fix the maximum amount to be offered as trophies tit the various tournaments, which the Wellington Association agreed to recommend to the parent body./

The Wellington Association lias decided to offer the Maslerton Club the provincial championships, which will be held in conjunction with the Wairarapa championship and handicap tournament on Thursday, Friday, and .Saturday, January 21, 22, and 23, 1921. The plans of the new Master ton courts were displayed to the Wellington meeting, those present evincing keen interest in the enthusiasm of the Club in catering so extensively for its members.
