THE PROGRESS LEAGUE, THE DEVIATION, AND THE DEPUTATION.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l was very pleased to hear of the successful meeting the Progress League had) on Tuesday last. I am told by some .of the "lower ones" that they got quite av decent reception and a good hearing, and are very pleased with the results. This Is what it sohuld be, and I am glad to see that the League is coming to my way of thinking, and, that its members arc- looking to every citizen as one that is of an equality to themselves. Mr J. Allan called on rue, with the paper to sign, for the closing of all shops, to enable as many shopkeepers to proceed to Wellington as could possibly get, and I readily signed. I would also like to go to Wellington with the deputation, and reading in the Age this morning 1 see there is likely to be a special train put on if the number warrant it. So, Mr Editor, I want to. ask the President, through your columns, will thoro bo any class distinction shown by any section of the deputation, by some of them travelling in a different class to others? Now, 1 would suggest that there be only one class, and that everyone travel either first class or otherwise, second! class. Others will think they can do one better by travelling by car. This should not be, and I would like the Leaguo to announce through your columns that all be requested to travel by train provided for the purpose, and only those so travelling should be recognised by the League, a roll call to be taken on the train and published. I would like to see this deputation represented by the heads of large firms down to the bricklayer's navvy, all travelling and chatting together.—Thanking you for the space.—l am, etc., ROBT. RUSSELL. Masterton, August 9, 1920.
