DR. MANNIX.

LIVERPOOL LANDING PROHIBITED. DISEMBARKATION SECRET. (By Electric Telegraph .—Copyright.) (Australian-N.Z. Cablo Association.) Received Last Night, 7.5 o'clock. LONDON, August 9. Scotland Yard announces that Br. Mainiix will not be permitted to land at Liverpool. The actual port of his disembarkation is being kept a strict secret.

"A PESTILENT PRELATE." Received Last Night, 7.5 o'clock. LONDON, August 9. Two Australian bishops intend to participate in the welcome at Liverpool. Dr. Browne, Bishop of Cloyne, read a pastoral letter in Queenstown concerning the insulting treatment of Dr. Mannix, which did not lower the exalted esteem in which the Archbishop was held by Irishmen. He appealed to Irishmen during the welcome to avoid giving offence and causing irritation. He added that Dr. Mannix was not coming as an agitator or to make inflammatory speeches, but he was returning to his native land solely to see his venerable mother and meet his friends. He desired that his visit should be unheralded. The Morning Post, describing Dr. Mannix as "a pestilent and malignant prelate," says the Government must not stultify its decision by halfmeasures. Dr. Mannix should be reshipped to Australia by the first boat.
