The Kev. 1). C. .Bates wired last night:—The weather has been fair, except .along the East Coast of the. North Island, where cold and showery conditions have prevailed. The atmospheric pressure has remained high, and moderate to strong south-east and south winds have predominated. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly to easterly winds northwards of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Variable breezes elsewhere. Weather cold and changeable, with scattered rain in northern and East Coast districts, and cloudiness increasing shortly everywhere. The barometer has a falling tendency.
