CARTERTON. (Our Resident Reporter.)' The Municipal Band is short of uniforms. With the object of raising sufficient money to purchase these, a first-class concert is being organised. Besides items by the Band, the best talent of Masterton and Wellington is to be engaged. It will be some concert. A third-offending "drunk" appeared before Mr. Trapp, J.P., yesterday morning. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. A prohibition order is also to be issued against the man. The installation of officers of the Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held last night, when a number of visiting brethren from Masterton were present. A social was afterwards held. During tho past three weeks tho sum of £614 I4s of the amount promised towards tho Memorial. Square has been paid to the secretary. Yesterday there was still £1037 12s 6d of the promised amount outstanding. • Mr. J. Crew has purchased Mr, Percy Oates' farm at Kaituna. The parishioners of St. Mark's Church are tendering Mr. and Mrs. Crew and familiy a farewell social this week. There is an association connected with the Fresbyterian Church aptly termod tho "Busy Bees." The members are all juveniles, and their special functions are to raise money for mission work. They held a bazaar on Saturday, and notted about £l4, a very creditable effort for juveniles. Joan Moncrieff was successful in winning n dressed doll, presented by Mrs. T. J. Rathbone, and Mrs. Gregor a doll's bed. 4 Mr. Chas. Morgan, of Clareville, sustained a nasty fall from a building at tho P. and A. Grounds recently. With another member of the Society, " he was engaged sawing an apartment from the top of a horse pen. A por tion gave way, and Mr. Morgan was precipitated to the ground, falling a distance of about nine feet 011 to stones. In grabbing for something to sustain himself, Mr. Morgan's fingers came into contact with a rusty nail, which inflicted an ugly gash.
