OBITUARY
MRS. J. H. BAKER
MR. HERBERT BEALE. The many friends of Mr Herbert Beale, of Masterton, will regret to learn that he passed away about 9 o'clock on Thursday evening, in the Masterton .hospital. The late Mr Beale came to the colony when, very young, with his parents. He was brought up in Wellington, where he served his apprenticeship to. the trade, tinsmith and plumber, with Mr T. Garland, of Molesworth Btreet. After completing his term in 1887, he continued to work as journeyman at the pirte place unti] 1892. He purchased the present business in Masterton in 1892, and under his energetic management, the trade has steadily grown. Ab an official and trustee of the Masterton Methodist Church he was a painstaking enthusiast, the work connected with the office being a labour of love. The late Mr Beale was also a bowler, and also took a keen interest in the bee-keeping industry. He was honest, upright and straight in his business and in private lifip, and those who have come into contact with him all have a good word for tho deceased gentleman. A short while ago the late Mr Beale was stricken down, and never rallied. He was 52 years of age. A widow and a grownup son and daughter are left to mourn their loss, and to these general sympathy will be extended. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock this afternooß.
