TRADE RELATIONS. The following letter was "received" at yesterday's meeting of the Masterton Chamber of It was from a Dutch merchant, Herr E. Detuch, who was evidently desirous of obtaining trade relationiship with New Zealand He says:—"The difficulty to obtain raw materials in order to maintain the fabrication compells me to seek business connexions with merchants of your country. I propose as follows:—(1) You send me raw materials which I work up to ready made articles at cost prices. These goods are sold by you. You let me participate at net proceeds from sale. I depose any sum in german austrian crowns at a bank you name me as equivalent of the sent raw materials and as surety till you are in possession of the goods. (2) You open me a credit in your currency against large consignments. (3) You send me orders to be made as per samples at fixed prices, paying 1-3 in advance in jrour currency. (4) You send me victuals against my articles. (5) If you know a place which is suited for the introduction of above industry. I am ready to set up the fabric (put machinery, etc.) and instruct people on acceptable terms. . Any other combination is welcomed to me. (la) My articles are: Specialities in ornaments for the hair made of Celluloid, Cellcn, horn, Calalith plain or furnished with simili stones, (lb) Any other sort of combs; dressing combs, small tooth combs, side combs, etc. My fair dealing firm (the high reputation of which you will get confirmed by the below mentioned references) is very capable of producing not only large quantities but first class and cheap goods. I should like to negotiate with governments re large conclusions. Agents will be paid a fee to. I have the honour to remain, yours most respectfully, etc." Mr D M. Graham: "I think we might; leave that on the table, and brand it 'made in Germany.' " Mr J. C. Cooper: "It appears to me that he is trying to get raw material without having to pay for it." It was eventually decided to "receive" the letter, no member expressing sympathy with the communication.
