The Conference of Chambers of Commerce pased a resolution in favour of holding a conference with representatives of other organisations; including Labour, to discuss'Mr Braddon's arbitration proposals. A further resolution urges the Commonwealth Government to call a convention of employers and employees to the Arbitration x Act by ,ap-. pointing assessors with expert knowledge of the industry affected by the dispute, to co-operate with the Judge adjudicating upon it, and requiring both parties to an award to deposit bonds to ensure its observance. The conference also resolved to call upon the Federal Government to decontrol the, sugar industry and to remove all export prohibition.
