TWO-STAR PROGRAMME. Tho now week-end' programme shown at the Paramount Iheatre was well received. "For Husbands Only," starring Mrs Charlie Chaplin, wan an entertaining s.x-part story. Toni, piqued at the unsatisfactory ending of her love alFair with D'Arcy, married Dodge. D'Arcy, then real.s.ng that ho reallny wants her, schemes to destroy Dodge's faith and force Ton. to return to h:ni. He stages a play in his private theatre, in which the characters aro recognisable aa himself, Toni and Dodge, the worst explanation being given to Toni'.s coi; duct. Dodge is invited to witness the pluy, and D'Arcy during the perl'oriii anco goes to Toni, tells her what he has done and that Dodge's love for her has been destroyed. Toni re alises she c#res for Dodge. Just tliei. ho appears. D'Arcy asks how lu l.ked the play. He declines to discuss it, pleading that his wife is t rod, and D'Arcy leaves. Then but to tell what hapj>ed next would spoil your interest in the denouement. The second feature is tho William Fox production "Tho Scarlet Road, starring Gladys Brockivcll, and is a clever socioty story. This pro gramme will be shown again to-night.

Tho popular Cosy Thoatro wa: packed on Saturday evening in spite of the counter attractions. Orange blossoms, and wedding veils are one of the average bride's chief concerns Or, if it'q not to be an elaborate wedding, sho is engrossed with the style of her travelling costume and hat. But Peggy Hyland, in "Caught in tho Act," tho William Fox photoplay now showing at the Cosy Theatre, has not much timo to devoto to the choice of her bridal costume. So : t happens that ono of the newest ant 1 most orig : nai styles in wedtlinp clothes appears on the screen. Moreover, the marriage coremony'take. l place nt midnight; and the bride groom, too, is clothed in unusual at tire. It all happens because Misi Hyland plays the part of a breezy adventurous girl, who defies* parents and convention for tho sake of misch:ofmaking. In her now play she is a very whirlwind of wholesome fur and girlishncss. This is an excellent feature, and thoroughly delighted th largo audience. The supporting pic tures shown included a two-act com edy "Gowns and Girls," and a one part Christie comedy "A Regulai Patsy," both* of which caused p!ent\ of amusement. MISS BILLIE GREEN

Tho Opera House was packed to tho doors on Saturday night; in fact, largo numbers of people wore unablo to get a scat. Tho attraction was tho first visit to Masterton of Wellington's popular soprano, Miss B llio Green, who took Saturday even V;\s Inrge crowd hy storm with hor clever rendering of tho popular song "Mickey." So well was Miss Green received that she was encored no less than three timeß, and sung two well selected songs in addition tc "Mickey." Mack Sennett'a first b>: special super picturo "Mickey," wit! Mabel Normand in tho title role, Biipcrior to "Tho Whip," "Sporting Life," and other Drury Lnno successes. Tho audience gasped at tht magn'tmle, and was thrilled by the sensations which include a mile and quarter race, a stand up fight in gooc' old Anglo Saxon style, and a race between n motor car and nil expres> train thnt fairly makes tho hair stanc" on end. They also stifle a sob at . motherloss child's devotion for father, and they simply screamed with laughter at Mickey's "Normandesque" stunts. The ensemble is ricTi in everything that is necessary for r super production. "Mickey" will stand out in film history as ono ol tho real masterpieces of tho t'mefe. The play is in light superlative act? lasting just over two hours, and it claimed thero is not a moment of let up from start to finish. Tho soup "M'ckey" vvaß inspired by Miss Noi mand's performance, and this will bincluded in tho special incidental music that accompanies tho pictun again th : s evening, when Miss Billu Gi-oon will agrJn sing "Mickey."
