PERSONAL NOTES
Mr Deane, Tablelands, left for Napier yesterday, * Miss Hall, of Martinborough, will Bp end her vacation in tho South Island. Mr J. D* McDougall, of "Snnnysido," was a visitor to Martinborough this week. Miss D. M. Allan, of the staff of Wellington Girls' College, has been appointed first lady assistant in the Dannevirke High School. The breaking-up day was a gala orio for tho children attending Martinborough School, and will long bo remembered by the young folks. The) wcro all at tho Huangnroa river for a swimming lesson, when Mr C. Poulter, one of our most popular citizens, arrived with his car loaded with fruit and lemonade. Needless to say, tho kind act was greatly appreciated, particularly as it came as a complete surprise to all.
The death took place at Napier on Sunday morning of Mrs Glasgow,, wife of Mr M. A. H. Glasgow, manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Napier. Mrs Glasgow was very well known in New Plymouth, where Mr Glasgow was managor of the bank for a number of years, and her death will be regretted by a large circle of friends. 'For some time Mrs Glasgow had been in ill-health, and on
Friday she underwent an operation, but her condition was not such aB to prepare her friends for the news of her death. Mrs Glasgow belonged to Nelson, and was a niece of the late Colonel Pitt.
