CLAREVILLE SCHOOL
UNVEILING MEMORIAL BOARD. A large number of residents from Clareville and Carterton attended the unveiling of a Memorial Board of all ex-pupils of the Clareville School who went to the front, the Board being in the school, where the ceremony was held. Proceedings opened by the child, ren's hymn "God Defend New Zea* land." Mr A. Phillpotts, Chairman of th* School' Committee, gave a brief speech, and also apologised for the absence of Mr ,W. Fisher, who had been Chairman of the School Committee for a number of years. Mr J. T. M. Hronsby, M.P., in an appropriate address, then performed the ceremony of unveiling. .The Rev. Young, Tipler and Ward also gave brief speeches, the Rev. Mr Tipler dealing chiefly with "Life on Active Service" and ''A Soldier's Life." : In olsing, a tribute was paid to Miss Moncrieff, who was instrumental in getting the whoie of the work arranged. Proceedings then closed with th& children's "Christmas Carol" and "God Save the King." Afternoon tea w#s provided by the ladies.
