The death occurred at Featherston on Tuesday of Mrs U.ssher, wife of Mr JEJ. J. Ussher. Mrs W. J. Buck, an old resident of Featherston, died on Tuesday at the age of sixty-nine years . Miss Isobel Smith, of Pahiatua, is spending a few days with Mrs W. G. Beard, Cole street. Mrs. W. Aitken, one of the oldest residents of Marton, died last week, aged 65 years. Mrs. Fabey, of Palmerston North, is a daughter of deceased. Mesdames N. Millar, andcß. L. Price, have been, appointed to take 'charge of the produce stall at the, forthcoming horticultural show in Masterton, the proceeds of which ■ivTJl be devoted to the Cameron Memorial Sports Ground Fund. The Ladies' Committee) in charge of the produce stall, in aid of the Cameron Memorial Sports Ground, at She Masterton Horticultural Show, decided, at its meeting in Masterton yesterday, to invite contributions of fruit, vegetables, * and cakes for this worthy object. It has been decided to hold a Baby Show in the Anzac Club at Featherston on Friday, November 28. The affair will bo under the guidance of the Featherston and Lower Valley Branch of the Plunket Society, who are offering prizes in three classes as set forth in the advertisement. The admission will be free, and afternoon tea will also be provided free of cost. f Tho death occurred at a private hospital in Wellington on Monday of Lady Atkinson, widow of the lato. Sir Harry Albert Atkinson, K.C.M.G., who was Prime Minister of New Zealand Irom 1887 until 1891. The deceased lady was born in 1838, and coming to New Zealand she was married at New Plymouth 54 years ago. She had been in indifferent health for some time. Her family consists of Mr Harry Temple Atkinson, of the Patents Office, Wellington, and Mrs Frank Waldegrave, at present in England. Another son was Captain Arnold Atkinson, who was killed in action in France. . A meeffng of thej committee of tho Returned Soldiers'. dance was held at Featherston on Tuesday afternoon, the Mayor (Mr J. W. Card) in the chair. The statement of expenditure showed a • loss at present of about £3O, but as there are quite a number of ticket returns to come in this msly yet be cleared. A special vote of thanks was accorded the ladies who gave such valuable assistance in making the function the great success it proved, and a similar ocmpliment was accorded Mr F. W. Smith for the very able way he marshalled the motor cars, also to Mr C. J. Carlyon for his valuable services as honorary secretary. The marriage took place on Tuesday at "Hawarden," Gladstone, tho residence of Mr and Mrs W. H. Booth, of Bertram, third son of the late Mr A. Booth, and Lillie Daphne, fourth daughter of Mr John Hughes, of Pahiatua. The Rev. R. Young, vicar of St. Mark's, Carterton, officiated, the ceremony being performed in the spacious drawing-room. The wedding was a very quiet one, only close relatives being present, j The bride was daintily attired in a, I charming frock of white crepe do! ctifne with over-dress' ctf white georgette ,and white hat, and carried -i beautiful hunch of pink roses. She w.as attended by Miss Elise Oxley, or Pahiatua, as bridesmaid, and was given away by her brother, Mr Alan Hughes. The bridesmaid was at-, tired fn a pretty gown oT maizecoloured crepe de chine, with hat to match, and carried a lovely bouquet of Lady Roberts roses. Mr E. B. Booth was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in the drawing-room, and the- usual toasts were proposed and heartily honoured. Mr and Mrs Bertram Booth will take tip their residence at Middle nun.
