A meeting of the Council of the Churches decided-to submit the following questions to candidates for Parliament Whether, in view of the phenomenal increase .in gambling through the totalisator, the candidate would resist proposals for any enlargement of totalisator opportunities; also whether lie would support legislation for the suppression of bookmaking, especially by making bookmaking an illegal calling, and the use of telegraphic, telephonic, and postal services for gambling transactions illegal.
