Mr and Mrs Arthur Pearce, of Wellington, returned to New Zealand Dy the Arawa.
Mrs Rishworth, and Miss Hosking, have returned to Masterton after a fortnight's holiday in Napier.
Miss Mitchell, M., of the V.A.D. staff, of the Trentham Military Hospital nursing staff, has been transferret? to the Featlierston Military Hospital.
The death is announced of Mrs Elizabeth Dowling, relist of the late Mr E. J, Dowling, for many years manager of the Oamaru branch .of the Bank of New Zealand. The deceased lady was in her 87th year.
The death is announced from Te Araroa, Poverty Bay, of Nurse Elizabeth Joan Ensor. daughter of Archdeacon and Mrs Ensor. Deceased was engaged in nursing Maori typhoid fever patients, when she cauht the disease that terminated in her death.
Mrs H, R. Elder, who lived for many years at Waikanae, and : : s now residing at Havelock North, returned to Waikanae last week, on a visit to Mrs Tatton-Fraser. A pleasant afternoon tea was given at the sunday schoolroom, when many friends had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Elder again.
The wedding took place at Foxton last Tuesday oi Mr W. Trueman, town clerk (formerly of the Main Body of the N.Z.E.F.), to Miss Helen Christie, daughter of Mr and Mrs David Christie. The bride wore a cream gabardine costume with a black hat trimmed with pink roses. Miss Ynes Easton was bridesmaid, and Mr D. Christie best man.
The San Francisco Auxiliary League of American Pen Women is planning an Authors' Carnival to be held at Fairmont in the near future. Writers and composers arc to be invited to take part, and committees have been set up to arrange details for an interesting and successful oc casion.
