A Leipzig" telegram says that what is claimed to be the largest aeropiano in the world, manufactured by me Aviatik' Tforks or Leipzig, has just carried out its first flights. Its dimensions are approixmately 130 ft m span, 73ft in length, and 20ft in height. It "is fitted with two 500 n.p. and two 250 h.p. Benz engines', and is capable of carrying, besides the commander, two navigators, two mechanics, one steward, and 18 paspassengers with luggage. To drop over a declivity of 23ft 'n a motor car, sweep away a 6ft galvanised iron fence, negotiate the orees of an orchard, pass on out mto the fresh air of the roadway, and bo able to say "It never touched me,'* is not what every driver can say he accomplished when pare■tismg for his "ticket." Yet it has been done, and the sceptical may see where the tornado on wheels made light of the fence concerned by standing on Dyer's Pass road aoove the Rhodes Convalescence Home (says a Greymouth paper). By some means the motorist—who surely deserves the name—passed over the channelling and footpath on the .rignt-hand side of the joad, he "endeavouring to turn, and proceeded down the bank, at tho bottom of wmcti there is a .galvanised iron tence. This obstacle was flattened lor some distance by the impact and the car went on, little damaged,; through the orchard. x-'oiir hundred and ninety gallons of milk are at present being received at the Hastwells separating station, to which there are eleven suppliers The buttermilk at the station is converted into casein and whey iB returned to the suppliers.
