MOUNTAIN HOUSE DAMAGED

A party of seven Mastertonians made the ascent of Mt. Holdsworth on Sunday. Owing to the tain and mist ,they had a very strenuous time. The track was m a slippery condit ; on, and it was with the grea£ est difficulty tney reached the mountain house. their arrival they round the house in a sad state of disrepair. The roof and sides had been blown, off the main building (probably as a result of the recent gale), and all that was intact war the ladies's quarters. The' party decided to proceed no further, and succeeded in scrambling down the hill, after a most trying experience. / ■
