Mrs J- W. Buchanan is visiting Wellington for a few days.

Mrs Malcolm, Wellington, is staying with Mrs Rupert Morrison, Blairlogie.

Mrs F. C. Lewis and Mrs P. Cameron are spending the week-end in Wellington.

Miss Alex. Perry, of Sulphur Wells, Masterton, has returned from a visit to the north.

Mrs Dalziell has taken a cottage at the seaside, .Wellington, and Miss Free is spending a short holiday with her.

Mrs F. J. Pike t .of 'Whanganahu,' is making satisfactory progress after undergoing an operation in the Cole street private hospital in Masterton.

Tho death occurred in "Wellington on Wednesday of Mrs Baillie, wife of tho Hon. Colonel W. D. H. Baillie, M.L.C., in her 89th year. Mrs Baillie arrived in New Zealand with her husband in 1857.

Miss Chiltbn-Button, of Auckland, who has recently returned from England, where she was connected with the New Zealand War Contingent Association and N.Z. Y.M.C.A. for four years, has taken up V.A.D. duties at the Pukeroa Sanatorium, Waipukrau.

Sister Constance, who for two and a half years has been working in connection with the Kuripuni Methodist Church, has. been appointed deaconess in connection with the Palmerston North Methodist Church. She will, be leaving her present sphere about the end of the year. The conference is to be requested to station a second minister at Kuripuni.

Miss C. Neilj whoso apointment as matron of the Ashburton County! hospital has been confirmed by the I Board, received her training at Mas-| terton hospital. In 1915 she was sister-in-charge of the medical and surgical wards in that institution. She then visited Canada and the 'United States* where eho went through several of the large hospitals, i On her return to New Zealand she was appointed, sister-in-charge of the women's and- children's medical wards at Timaru. After leaving there Miss Neil ag*ain went to the Masterton hospital as sister.
