T nig at he Cosy - Itealre, the new wee., ~./i~r>unced is a particularly good one, and inclades several good ;ictureß„ Emily Stevens, brilliant „<®r of the forthcoming Metro rfonderplay, "Outwitted," <x>mos of an old theatrical family, like v: a niece of Mrs. Minnie Maddern Hsks, the celebrated actress, and a daughter of Robert E. Stevens and Emma Maddern, both of whom are prominent in the annals of the i American stage. Miss Stevens made her first appearance on the speaking stage with Mrs. Fiske. For several years she remained' in her company, receiving training under her personal direction. The Metro star created a distinct impression on Broadway in "Leah Klesihna." This was her first role of prominence, and her abilit}/ was instantly recognised. The following season she played the leading feminine role in "The Devil." Next followed her remarkable performance in "Septimus." Then came the stellar role in "The Uncliastened Woman," in which Miss Stevens duplicated her Broadway success throughout the country. This was followed by "The Fugitive," by John Galsworthy. Miss Stevens has recently given noteworthy performances m "A Sleeping Memory" and "The Slacker," two powerful Motro features. This gifted star has also appeared in "The Wheel of the Law." "The House of-Tears," "The Wager," "Cora," and "Destiny, or the Soul of a Woman," for Metro, the only'motion picture firm for which she hasjjppejfred. -thor supporting pictures include a very pretty comedy by the Christie Company, starring Dainty Betty Coinpson, in "Crazy by Proxy," tho prettiest and daiutiest comedy actress on the screen. A trip through a beautiful ".Japanese Flower Garden" is also an interesting picture, while more laughs are to be found in "Max as Tore.a(f dor." A very interesting picture, full of the latest news, is the American Review. The usual matinee will be held this afternoon, when "The Secret Kingdom" and pretty Olive Thomas in "Broadway Arizona" will be shown for the last time.
