MARBLE BARS.

The Magistrates of New Zealand recently cave decisions which had the effect of closing tlie whole of the marble bars and refreshment rooms in the Dominion on the one day m the week in which they were most; required, notably, .Sunday. The Chief Justice has now reversed these decisions. He holds that it is not illegal to soil soft drinks on the Sabbath Day. This- decision will be welcomed by the great bulk of the general public. The closing of marble bars imposed a hardship upon travellers, and compelled many, people to patronise hotels who would not otherwise have done so. Many owners of marble bars, have suffered financial loss on account of the decision of the Magistrates.. Apparently they have no redress.
