THE OTIRA TUNNEL
A VISIT OF INSPECTION. (By Telegraph-r-iPress Association.) HOKITIKA, Lust Night. About twenty-five representative from the Canterbury, WostUnd ami Greymoutb Chambers of- Commerce participated in a visit of inspection to the Arthur's Pass tunnel works yesterday afternoon. Bealey was inspected, and the party crossed to Otira that evening. To-day Otira was inspected. The total length of the tunnel will be five miles twenty-five chains,, of which there only remains twenty-five chains of advanced heading, while there are 113 chains between- the finished works at both ends. - Tlie visit was under the conduct of Mr Dinnie, engineer in charge, and was made moat, interesting and instructive. The visitors' were impressed with the magnitude of the work. ," "" ' : .
